Basically for my use and boredom. DON'T LOOK. IT ALL BURNS.
BURNS.
David and Lydia Potts。
Both of Pepper's parents were hard working individuals that wanted nothing more than to give their little Ginny the things that they had never been so fortunate as to have. Lydia was a pre-school teacher that had a way with children and a heart of gold to go along with it, and David was a high school math teacher with a head for numbers and despite being sometimes horribly, socially awkward, a man that would do anything for his family. They were only separated by three years, David being the elder of the pair. Lydia had moved from London to America with her sister Rachel for a change of scenery and had met David by chance at the diner that he had been busing tables at to scrap together money for his teaching courses. He spilled a drink on her, and the rest they say, is history. It took a lot of guts on David's part to ask the gorgeous red head on a date, but once he did the rest of the pieces more or less fell into place for the couple and they settled down while Rachel moved on to New York.
Pepper grew up in a lower-middle class home in New Haven, Connecticut and rarely had problems with her parents. She came out with blonde hair at first but at about age six, her hair began to turn into the strawberry blonde that it is now. David often commented that it was Lydia's family genes that bestowed Pepper with her red hair, smattering of freckles (not that there was anything wrong with that) and the hidden, fiery temper that he claimed sent shivers down his spine. Although they both had steady jobs, they were ones that didn't pay very well and as a result, she grew up without a lot of things that her friends had. Pepper grew up in a loving household and while there were the occasional spats and fights, there was nothing horrible that marred her childhood. If anything, that unconditional love and the ability to love someone no matter what their faults may be, rubbed off on Pepper. Her parents were her best friends and she told them almost everything about her life, or at least everything that an eleven year old could. Her parents taught her the importance of being able to work hard for what you wanted and that higher education and being learned was something that was going to get you by in life. At the same time, they never forced a particular career on her - they were very supportive of their daughter and simply wished for her happiness. If there was one other thing that they truly wished for her though, it as for her to go to university. Their wish for her was known and it spurred Pepper's ambition on. She wanted nothing more than to please the people who had given her everything they could and she wanted to be able to support them one day.
David and Lydia were lost to Pepper when she was eleven years old. They had driven out to the city for a two day teacher's conference but on their way back, the conditions had been terrible on the road. A truck driver who had been drinking and driving had swerved into their car and by the time the emergency response team had arrived there, it had been too late. Both had died on impact and the truck driver only sustained minor injuries. Pepper had been woken up in the early morning to a uniformed police officer knocking at their door to tell her the heart breaking news.
Their funeral was one of the few times that she has ever cried in front of other people in her life.
Joseph and Rachel Warren。
Pepper's aunt and uncle; they are the parent figures in her life. They were the ones that brought her into their home graciously after the untimely death of her parents.
After Lydia married David, her sister, Rachel, had moved to New York finding the sleepy town of New Haven too quiet for her tastes. Shortly after moving there she met Joseph, an up and coming copywriter at a big name ad agency. He was quickly smitten with the beautiful strawberry blonde and they had a quick engagement and marriage. Despite Lydia's doubts for her sister, she saw that the match was a good one and besides, her sister had always liked the exciting side of life. Shortly after marrying Joseph, Rachel eventually got a job as a museum curator at the Metropolitan art museum. Rachel and Joseph had one child of their own - Henry, with whom Pepper got along with very well despite how rarely they saw each other.
There is no doubt that Rachel lived a much higher quality of life than Lydia did, but she never lorded it over her younger sister. If anything, she often tried to gift the Potts with gifts all of which were politely turned down but not without a huge amount of fuss. Eventually, the Potts learned that it was best just to accept the gifts because it was much easier that way. On the rare occasion that she was able to visit her aunt, Pepper's favourite thing to do was visit the art museum and play dress up in her aunt's closet. It is entirely possible to say that this is where Pepper's love for art was onset by her aunt. She was like a second mother to Pepper and as a result, it was no surprise that Rachel and Joseph decided to take her into their home when her parents passed away.
It took some convincing on their part. Pepper didn't want to leave her parents behind in New Haven, but Rachel and Joseph reassured her that this is what they would want and she would love living in New York even more than she enjoyed visiting it. Pepper spent the rest of her adolescent and teenage years in New York attending a prestigious private school located in the city courtesy of her aunt and uncle and quickly became to view them as her second parents. As the years have gone on though, there was a bit of a rift that has developed between them. Pepper doesn't speak to them as much as she used to and it was partly because they didn't approve of the job that she had taken on at Stark Industries and the man that she worked for. They know about the relationship that she has with Tony, but they're both still worried about the fact regardless how long she tells them that she's worked for him.
Tony Stark。
Pepper and Tony's paths would never have crossed if it hadn't been for that fateful day at a meeting where she had spoken up and pointed out a huge mistake in the finance report. She still remembers the day well because it was the day that she was certain she was going to be fired for the first time in her life. Being only the executive assistant to the deputy section head of payroll, Pepper wasn't even supposed to be speaking out at a meeting but despite her better judgement she had done so only to be greeted in silence.
She's worked for Tony for about nine years now and there has been more than one occasion where she has quit or has threatened to quit. The first time had been when Tony had slapped her on the ass and she had slapped him across the face in retaliation. If there was another moment in her life when she thought she was going to be fired it was that moment. She was proven wrong, however; when Tony ceased his physical contact with her and apologized. Every other time that she had quit before in the past, she had been showered with expensive pairs of shoes and clothing which is quickly followed by a hefty wage increase - this was apparently Tony's way of begging her to come back.
Her relationship with the man is a complicated one. Pepper didn't realize the full extent of her feelings for him until after he had been taken in Afghanistan. There had always been banter between the two of them, especially in the past several years, but she had always told herself that she had no time for a relationship, especially a romantic one with her boss. She would never admit it to anyone (especially him), but she had felt attracted to him, but felt that getting her personal and professional life mixed up would be a very bad idea and it was not a trap she wanted to fall into. She liked her job and she didn't want to do anything to jeopardize it. Being so far away from home, when she said that Tony was the only one she had too, she meant it. Of course Pepper had her own friends from college, but they weren't people that she saw on a day to day basis. She and Tony knew each other on a personal level whether or not they wanted to admit it or not. She cherishes Tony even though she may joke about being his nanny half of the time.
The Iron Man stunt does bother her, and it does make her worry beyond belief, but her belief in him is much greater than any worries that may spring up. He is one of the only people that she has a weakness for and will truly show her true feelings around.
He was resigned to calling her "Potts" or "Ms. Potts" until after she slapped him and he realized somewhere along the lines that she was someone that he was going to keep in his employment. The nickname was brought to life when he was going on one day about one subject or another and quite suddenly, noticing her freckles, calls her Pepper. She's at first admittedly confused, but moves on, thinking it's nothing more than one of his quirks until it happens again. And again. And again. While Pepper has done her fair share of complaining and saying how it isn't professional in the least bit, it has stuck and it is simply what she goes by. She will never openly admit to him that she likes the nickname.

Harold "Happy" Hogan。
Someone that she has come to consider as a friend over the years. He is as much her driver as he is Tony's but she's never viewed him like that at all. If anything, she viewed Happy as someone that she could relate to considering who they both worked for. She grew to trust him and rely on him especially after Tony got kidnapped. He was part of her support system in those three months while Tony was gone.
Stark Industries。
It was really chance that Pepper happened on the job that led her to the Finance and Administration pool. After graduating, she had returned back to New York, expecting to spend the summer as an assistant at the Met until she found a proper job. A friend of her uncle's that worked at SI mentioned that there was an opening. Seeing as SI was a Fortune 500 company, Pepper sent in her CV. Being grossly over qualified, it was no surprise she got the job and that was the beginning of her days at Stark Industries. She spent only her first several weeks in the Finance and Administration pool before being snapped up by one of the deputy section head of the Payroll department to be his executive assistant. Pepper spent her first year pulling a lot of the weight, and despite making the rookie mistake of looking much too eager for her own good, made a good name for herself around the department.
